Smith & Wesson .38 Spl M&P 1906 VG 4” SF – NV Gold Rush Revolver S&W Letter

Exact revolver in photos. .38 Hand Ejector, Military & Police model of 1905, First Engineering Change.  pre model 10. 85000 range serial, shipped from Smith & Wesson October 22, 1906, to Pacific Hardware & Metal in San Francisco. Its destination domicile still stands, a National Register Historic Place. Furthermore, its owner was George H. Ward, penciled his name inside its left panel. Mr. Ward served as a cashier in the booming gold town 450 miles east of SF. We are enclosing the Smith & Wesson factory letter from 2018, and a printoff of Mr. Ward’s entry and occupation in the Goldfield 1907 City Directory, courtesy of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Construction is entirely steel metal, with original walnut grips. Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector, traditional double and single action revolver, hammer nose ignition without any internal hammer block. Five screw frame, smooth faced trigger and matching correct hammer. 4 inch barrel, 6 rounds .38 Special ammunition, not designed for +P. Predecessor to the Smith & Wesson Victory and model 10 series. Blued finish, factory refinish at some point, we estimate 1960s. Even surface wear, we rate as Good to Very Good. Serviceable with correct timing, no lateral cylinder play. Well preserved. Transferable to eligible CA Civilians and to C&Rs.
