OUR #PK473

Item Description

Exact knife in photos. Kutmaster Advertising Knife from the Utica, New Yorkmanufacturer. Pattern is Office Knife Style, an equal end jack with no bolsters. Overall length closed is 3 1/8 inches; and the old style long pull main spear blade measures 2 inches from point to heel. Original Chrome finish to the chrome vanadium blades is quite strong, but with some light sanding or scouring in an attempt to remove spots. Both blades are full original width, and the cracked ice handle panels are complete and nicely aged with a yellowish toning as the photos show. This is an advertiser for Olshines Department Store in Louisville, Kentucky. Reverse is the parent advertising company, John C. Roberts Shoe company, whose heyday ranged from the late 1920s until about 1950. Olshines of Louisville and its counterpart in Decatur, Alabama, were important for Jewish History in the U.S. South. We rate this Kutmaster as a strong Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, specimen, since no more than 15 percent or so of its surfaces are affected by wear in our estimate. We estimate production 1937 - 1941 vicinity.
