Baldwyn Mississippi Auto Parts Colonial Advertising Knife 1960s Very Good PK211
OUR # pk211

Item Description

This knife is one of the few remaining relics from Bendix Corporate marketing. Bendix is important historically for its products distributed not only to civilian transporation, but also to military logistics. Northeast Mississippi is important for its culture: an excellent civilian work ethic, patriotism expressed by its veterans, and Africanized Scots Irish music represented by its Favorite Son Elvis Presley. Surface detractions to this advertiser are moderate; it has substantial dark toning on its blades, and we rate it at 70 percent or so finishwise. There is, however, no pitting visible. Handle Panels show scuffing and scouring from contact, but the advertising and phone number on the obverse handle panel is clear and visible, Hill Auto Supply from Baldwyn, Mississippi – near Tupelo, about 100 miles from us. Hill Auto Parts is live and well in neighboring Pontotoc. Standard size for the U.S.A. stamped knives, manufactured by Colonial, is 3 1/2 inches overall length closed with a main clip blade that measures 2 5/8 inches from heel to point. Own this good old Mississippi Advertising relic for only $ 23.00
