Here is an original factory box for Winchester Pump Shotguns Manufactured during the 1960s. Manufacturer was Alton Box Board Co. of New York, under license to Winchester-Western Division – Olin Corporation / 275 Winchester Ave., New Haven, Conn. U.S.A.. Construction is two piece cardboard, lid and body. Finish is plain brown cardboard body with plaid Winchester Game Scene motif overlay in black and red ink; with Winchester / World Famous Firearms emblazoned on the lid center, and Model 1200 Trap 30 inch Full Choke on its yellow end label. From its 200,000 range serial number, this box was manufactured in 1967 or 1968. Interestingly, the heretofore unlabeled end bears a store tag from a Hawaii Gun Shop, complete with price, from the early 1980s, when a West Tennessee Banker, who happened to be an excellent shot, bought a similar shotgun from the proprietor while the banker was vacationing in Hawaii. Please note the 2 inch wide tape tear on the lid’s edge, and where the Hawaiian Shopkeeper lettered the new, unoriginal serial number on the yellow portion lid top. Apart from those, surface detractions are moderate, principally edge wear and tape residue. We rate this box as Very Good Condition, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Interior dimensions are 35 inches length, 8 inches width, and 2 3/4 inches thickness. Box will accommodate up to a 34 inch barrel, then, with stock length of pull 15 1/2 inches. External dimensions are slightly more, of course. Shipping dimensions and weight are 4.5 inches by 14.5 by 36 inches, by 3 pounds. Winchester 1200 series shotguns were never collectors’ prizes like their Model 12 immediate ancestors, but this box, by our poor memory, is correct enough to house a 1960s Production Model 12, which was not discontinued like many of its mates. This box would enhance any Postwar Winchester Shotgun made between 1946 and 1981. We’re offering the box in the photos for only $ 119.00.
