Winchester 2991 Muskrat Bone Handle 2 Blade Trapper Knife Mint 1988 Replica

This listing is for the exact knife in the photos. From years of storage comes this somewhat rare Winchester 2991 Muskrat Pattern Pocket Knife. Manufacturer was Taylor Cutlery of Kingsport, TN, under license to Winchester Olin of New Haven, CT. Year of Production was 1988, and so marked on the reverse blade tang. Construction is chrome vanadium carbon steel blades and backsprings; carbon steel rivets; nickel bolsters; brass interior liners; and dark purple or black, genuine bone handles. Pattern is Muskrat or Trapper type. Overall length closed is 5 inches; both Clip and Spear Pattern blades measure 2 7/8 inches from heel to point.  Blade thickness is .148 inch maximum. Weight is 89 grams. Note that each blade has its own independent backspring. Finish is polished surface metal, and polished picked surface handle panels. Markings are Winchester / - Trade-Mark - / - Made in U.S.A. – obverse tang; Winchester / Trade Mark inked on the blade’s obverse side; and 2991 / ‘88 reverse tang. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint liner contact streaking on the blade surface. This knife was never used or sharpened. It is a faithful and exacting replica of the original 1920s production Winchester, and probably a better knife. Spring strength and blade alignment are excellent.  It came to us from a well known Alabama trader 35 some odd years ago.
