Here is Taurus’s Lightweight .38 Pocket Revolver, the model 856, only dressed up similar to the Colt Agents of 50 years ago. Manufacturer was Forjas Taurus of Porto Alegre Brazil, and Importer and warrantor is Taurus International of Bainbridge, GA, and so marked. Type is traditional double and single action snub pocket revolver. Construction is steel barrel, cylinder, trigger, hammer, and internal parts assembled into a magnum grade alloy frame. Grips are 1970s – 1980s production Sile brand Italian Walnut, combat banana style.  Barrel is one piece 2 1/8 inch full lug, six groove right hand 1:18.75 rifling. Sights are pinned in black blade insert .132 serrated ramp front sight. Rear sight is frame integral fixed notch. Hammer is.340serrated spur, with matching .315 serrated face trigger. Cylinder capacity is 6 rounds of .38 Smith & Wesson Special caliber ammunition, including +P loads, which neither the Smith &Wesson Airweights not Colt Lightweights of the 1970s and 80s would digest. Ignition is flat faced hammer against floating firing pin. The Taurus 856 has a transfer bar internal safety device. It does Not have a hammer lock like its predecessors from the two previous decades, reestablishing its kinship to Vietnam Era snubs. Weight empty is 15.5 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger point. Finish is matte black anodized surface alloy frame, with matching matte blue hammer, trigger, screws, and thumb latch cylinder release. Note the slight exposure through the left side plate next to the grip. Double action trigger pull is consistent 10 pounds vicinity, with 7 pound vicinity crisp single action pull. Each 856 comes in its factory box with cylinder protector, hang tag, protective wrapper, warning flyer, coupon, instruction manual, Warranty flyer, and Regal cable lock. Not transferable to civilian residents of Massachusetts.
