Exact revolver in photos is a  Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police, numbered model 10, Seventh Engineering Change. 8D96000 range serial =1981 Bangor Punta. Traditional double and single action K medium round frame revolver. Steel metal with walnut factory service grips. 6 rounds of .38 Special, OK for +P. 2 inch standard tapered barrel, pinned into the frame. Serrated blade front with frame integral fixed notch rear sight. .265 serrated face trigger, with matching hammer. 1.46 inches cylinder thickness; 7 in length; 4 3/4 in  height; weight 29 ounces empty. Double action 5 to 10 degrees hammer travel; 25 single action with 4 pound pull. No lateral cylinder play; .008 forcing cone gap. Carbon deposits and blast effect are minimal. Domicile was the Caribbean Home Jurisdiction of Borinquen Air Station, on guard against Castro’s Communists and Cartels. We estimate fired fewer than 100 times. Bore and cylinder chambers are all bright and clean. Finish is polished surface nickel plated steel, with matte sight area, and color casehardened trigger, hammer, and thumbpiece nut. Grips are correct oil finish. Note the Squadron Markings lower right side of frame and barrel, and under the top strap. Apart from those, Surface detractions are moderate, principally finish freckling on the edges, thumb latch, hammer, and trigger; and weakness to the back strap finish.
