Here is a favorite style of Finger-Grooved Combat grips from the mid 1970s that has not been superseded or underpriced since it hit the market during that decade: the Sile Walnut combat grips, #SILJC, for the Smith & Wesson J frame Chief’s Special Revolvers like models 36, 60, 640, 637, 317PD, 351PD, and 340PD. Not only are these grips period appropriate even for pinned-barrel vintage Chief’s Specials like our R- prefix model 60s that we try so hard to acquire; they are smooth enough for easy drawing and re-pocketing, and the additional 5/8 inch at the forward point of their butt area gives firm manageability during recoil even from a 360 or 340 Magnum. Buyer will receive the grips in the photo or one of their identical mates. Any firearms shown as examples in any of our photos are not for sale in this listing, and long gone anyway. More notable, perhaps, these are attractive grips, genuine walnut with medium depth checkering and enough space for the remaining three fingers even for fat boys like our photographer. They are strikingly similar to the shortly-produced Smith & Wesson Banana Combat Grips from the late 1970s and early 1980s.
