Shapleigh Hardware 3 Blade Stockman Knife ca 1940 Carbon Steel and Honey Brown Bone Handles some Pitting, Reverse Panel Inletted
OUR #pk527

Item Description

From its home territory here in Elvisland comes this historic Shapleigh Hardware Stockman type knife. Manufacturer was Union Cutlery of Olean, NY, under contract to Shapleigh Hardware of St. Louis, MO. From its tang stamp, and from our knowledge of its owner, it is 1930s production. Construction is Carbon Steel Blades and Springs, with brass liners, nickel steel bolsters, and picked Bone Handle Panels. Blades are Clip main 2 3/4 inch blade; with Skinner and Sheepfoot secondary blades that measure 2 inches apiece. Overall length is 3 3/4 inch closed. Tangs are company marked on all three blades. Blade surfaces show moderate to extensive surface pitting, but retain good original width. Obverse bone panel is well worn with one rivet crack, but shield is intact. Reverse panel has an original e-z opener recess in its panel for the skinner blade. The two small blades still have backspring pressure for closure, but closure of the main blade is weak. We rate it as Good Condition, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It comes from the estate of a Chester County Tennessee Farmer and Mill worker.
