Shapleigh Hardware 1940s Pen Knife VG Rough Black 2 1/2”

Exact knife in photos. Manufacturer was Union Cutlery
of Olean, NY, under contract to Shapleigh Hardware of St. Louis, MO. We
estimate 1940s production. Construction is Carbon Steel Blades and Springs,
with brass liners, nickel steel bolsters, steel spring pin, brass handle brads,
and picked Black Composite Panels. Blades are Clip main 2 1/8 inch blade; with
1 3/8 inch pen blade. Overall length is 2 1/2 inch closed. Tang is company
marked on clip blade, pattern D38 on reverse of clip tang. Moderate use wear,
more to the pen blade than to the clip. Finish toning. Decent spring strength
for both blades. We rate it as Very Good Condition, but photos ought to suffice
for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
