Here is the direct descendant of the Colt Scout, the Rough Rider. Like many of the Special Edition Scouts of the 1960s, this one is dressed up in style that would make Elvis himself envious. This is the Gold Horseshoe version of the Rough Rider. Manufacturer and warrantor is Heritage Arms of Rockledge, Florida. Construction is steel barrel, cylinder, hammer, trigger, and internal parts assembled into a Zamak or alloy two piece main frame and grip frame. Components are a mix of Italian Parts, supplied by Fratelli Tanfoglio S.N.C. of Gardone, Italy, and domestic US parts produced in Miami. Type is Colt design single action revolver. Caliber is .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with the LR cylinder. Cylinder capacity is 6 rounds. Barrel is 4 3/4 inches, with 6 groove right hand 1:14 rifling. Sights are welded in blade front with frame integral fixed notch rear. Trigger is .250 smooth faced offset, with .280 serrated spur 4 position hammer. Ignition is floating firing pin. The Rough Rider has a transfer bar internal safety, and a hammer block thumb safety. Grip frame is standard 1873 type, with smooth inlaid wood grips. Overall length is 10 1/2 inches, by 5 inches height, with 1.43 inch cylinder diameter. Weight empty is 31 ounces, centered mid cylinder. Finish is brush surface blued steel barrel, sight, rod, and release; black anodized frames, guard, and lever; and brushed surface brass plated hammer, trigger, and cylinder. Grips are machine engraved with upper Colt logo and with crossed-nail horse shoe. Each Rough Rider comes in its factory box with instruction and safety manuals, merchandising coupons, California Compliant Cable Lock, and warning tags. Not transferable to civilian residents of Minnesota.
