G&G Federal Man Holster HZL33 Right Hand Black Gould & Goodrich ca 1980 NC Dept of Corrections

Item Description

This listing is for ONE holster; From duty with the North Carolina Department of Corrections comes this duty holster for a 2 1/2 to 3 inch barreled medium frame revolver, like the NCDC's model 65 Smith & Wessons they traded in 15 years ago. Manufacturer was Gould & Goodrich of Lillington, NC. Production date was early 1980s. Construction is two ply genuine leather, real American Cow, black dyed with average thickness from .125 to .140 inch. Stitching is heavy dyed cotton cord, with chrome plated steel and brass snap. Model number is HZL33, Concealment or Pancake type: a high ride holster that will fit a 1 1/2 inch to 1 3/4 inch wide Garrison Belt or just normal plainclothes belts. This holster has two front slots for adjusting its cant or tilt; and its front area is recessed for fixed or adjustable sights. This type holster had its heyday in the 1980s and 1990s. It will accommodate most medium frame six shot double action revolvers with 2 1/2 to 3 inch barrels, including Smith & Wessons model 10, 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, 64, 65, 66, 67, and the 3 prefix lightweight variants. They will accommodate Taurus models 65, 66, 80, and 82, and similar sized Tauruses, even the 5 shot Big Bore Trackers. It is also a good fit for Ruger Speed Six, Security Six, and Service Six Revolvers. Since the interior is soft leather lined, it will not cause finish wear to the muzzles and cylinders of blue and nickel finished guns. This holster will accommodate revolvers whose barrels are longer than 3 inches, but with protrusion beyond its muzzle area. That includes Smith & Wesson models 581, 586, 681, and 686; Ruger model GP100 Full Lug; and Taurus and Rossi Revolvers with full lug barrels. Surface detractions are moderate, principally edge wear and lizarding or wrinkling, more pronounced on its second front slot’s upper area as the photos show. We rate this holster as Very Good Condition, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Stitching and thumb strap closure is excellent. This holster is Period Correct for any 2 1/2 to 3 inch revolver manufactured from the late 1960s up until about 2000, when Autoloaders took over. Replacement pricing on similar U.S. Made, genuine leather holsters nowadays ranges upwards of $100 apiece. We’re offering the genuine G&G HZL 33 holster in the photos at a substantial savings.
