Item Description

This listing is for the exact rifle stock in the photos. From the late Reagan era comes this serviceable stock for Winchester model 70 Long Action Rifles. Manufacturer was Cooey of Canada, under license to Winchester Repeating Arms. Construction is inletted hardwood, probably birch, with steel swivel studs, reinforcement cross pin, and rubber recoil pad with steel screws. This stock will only accept standard Long Action Winchester 70 calibers: .25-06, .270, .30-06, 7mm Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, and the like. It will not accept a short action rifle like a .243 or .308. It will not accept a Savage, or Remington, or Howa Action. It will not accept the dump lever of a 1947 John Deere Manure Spreader. It will only accept a Winchester Long Action complete with its internal type hinged magazine, action bolts, and trigger assembly. Length of pull will measure approximately 14 inches. Overall length is 30 3/4 inches. Drop will be the usual 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches, with little or no right hand cast. Finish is satin urethane type. Note that the barrel channel has been sanded out to .770 diameter all along its length. By our very poor memory, it probably housed a tapered barrel .25-06 at one time. Other than the channeling, surface detractions are moderate, someweathering on the butt area and left side of butt area, and on the left side of the forend tip area. Surface detractions are moderate, principally finish scouring. We classify it as Very Good Condition, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
