Early 1960s Choate Buttstock for Remington 12 gauge 870 1100 with Bolt Black

his listing is for the exact stock in the photos. Here is a very early specimen from our esteemed neighbors in Arkansas. This is a pistol grip type two piece, skeleton style stock for the venerable Remington 870 Pump and 1100 Autos chambered in 12 gauge. Manufacturer was Choate Machine Tool Co. of Bald Knob, AR. Construction is four piece injection molded polymer, consists of a basic skeleton type stock frame with bolt channel, and heat attached recoil pad, assembled into a pistol grip type wrist area with sliding compartment and grip sling swivel. Bolt is original steel for 870. From our poor memory of selling these, this is an early production mid 1960s Choate Stock. This stock is correct for standard corn cob finish 870s manufactured in the 1940s – 1960s, including 870P Riot Guns. Finish is original black. Surface detractions are moderate, moderate scouring and toning to the swivel stud. Note the gap behind the pistol grip. We rate this Choate as Very Good condition, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. This stock is collectable in its own right, and historically significant. It served Law Enforcement Duty in nearby Madison County, Tennessee, for a number of years.
