E.
Bruckmann Mann 3 Blade Whittler 1950s Mother of Pearl Pocket Knife Mint

            Exact
Knife in photos. E. Bruckmann, Solingen, Germany manufacturer. Main spear
pattern blade’s tang is stamped with company logo / Mann. Its reverse tang is
stamped E. Brückmann / Germany. We estimate early 1950s production, from a firm
that existed from the 1860s until the 1950s. Medium sized equal end 3 Blade
Pocket Knife on the US style of the Whittler pattern. We simply don’t know
whether there was ever a Langenscheidt
knife pattern. Carbon steel blades and backspring; nickel bolsters, medallion,
and pins; with brass liners. Genuine Mother of Pearl handle panels. Main long
drag, beveled upper Spear pattern blade utilizes both backsprings. Its length
is 2 7/8 inches. Both pen pattern blades are 1 3/8; both tangs on each stamped
identically to the main blade’s insignia. 3 1/16 oal closed. Note that all 3
blades have liner and handle recesses; quite a bit of Teutonic vigor, however,
is required to open one, especially the main blade with both its backsprings. Negligible
wear, never used or sharpened. We rate it Mint, but photos ought to suffice. Domicile
was a knife shop in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem, of all places, where we
bought it in 1975.
