Item Description

This listing is for the exact holster in the photos, and we only have one. From its home in Johnston County North Carolina, 60 miles from Fort Bragg, comes this outstanding duty holster. Likely it served law enforcement duty during the Andy Griffith era, perhaps MP duty given the parent revolver’s military history. Manufacturer was Clark Leather of Los Angeles, independent operator in the 1950s and early 1960s. Clark merged with J.M. Bucheimer Company around 1970. Type is duty holster, low ride swivel type to fit up to a 2 1/2 inch width duty belt, so that the officer can be seated in a patrol car. It is flap type, with a quick release tab and spring loaded flap top for rapid deployment of the service revolver. This holster came to us with a World War I British Issue Colt New Service revolver that we have up for sale on another venue at press time. It is marked 51245, and the New Service was indeed a 5 1/2 inch barreled .45 caliber. It fits any revolver we tried, from a Single Action Rough Rider to a Ruger Redhawk well, but it is a no go on a 6 inch revolver, however. Construction is genuine American Cow leather, semi gloss floral finish exterior and pliable, reasonably soft but unlined interior. This holster will eventually wear a blue gun and buff a stainless one. Surface detractions are only moderate, principally a half inch tear at the front edge of the flap crease, as the photos show. Stitching is strong and intact throughout, and the spring and tab stud mechanism works properly. This is a unique holster. We know of none like it in production for the past 30 or 40 years.
