This listing is for the EXACT note in the photos.  From a local estate here in West Tennessee comes this Civil War Deposit Note. Face Amount was $40.28.Printers were Rowdon, Wright, Hatch, & Edson, NY/ Issuing Bank was the Ilion Bank, the New York municipality that served as home for Remington Arms.  Bearer and Depositor was William McLaughlin, of West Winfield in Herkimer County New York. The Certificate is dated July 17, 1862. Ancestry com gives Mr. McLaughlin's life span as 1840 – 1870. His endorsement appears on the reverse side. We do not know if he served in the Union Army, but we do know that he twice owned the West Winfield Newspaper, the Standard Bearer. Detractions are minimal to moderate,principally faint horizontal folding, with three pin holes at 5 O'clock, and two in the middle or centr. and faint dark toning. Details are clear throughout, and it has no tears whatsoever. We rate this note as Very Fine, perhaps Extremely Fine, Condition, but Mrs. Robertson's scans ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge grade for themselves.
