Item Description

This listing is for the exact holster in the photos. From the upper Mississippi Delta lands of Gibson County, Tennessee, comes this attractive, unpretentious leather belt holster. Manufacturer was Brauer Brothers of St. Louis, a primary supplier of ours until the advent of DuPont Cordura in the 1980s. Construction is Single Ply, .142 thick, genuine American Cow leather from the Midwest. Tab brads are chrome plated steel, with brass snaps and with steel staple reinforced white cotton cord stitching. Interior is unlined tanned leather. This holster housed a 1953 production Smith & Wesson model 35 Revolver, and put a bit of lateral wear on the .22. It will accept, and is period correct for, Iver Johnson 55 and 57 series revolvers, H&R 600 and 900 series, and High Standard Durango type without any ejector rod housing. The barrel channel is not big enough to hold an ejector rod for Single Action revolvers. Holster is designed for 5 to 6 inch barrels, and will even accommodate 6 inch Smith & Wesson M&P .38 revolvers. It is period correct for revolvers manufactured from World War II up until the mid 1980s. Surface detractions are moderate, even wear and oil staining. Shoppers simply wanting a utility holster should content themselves with nylon. Collectors, however, who wish to enhance the value of their revolvers with a period correct holster, will find that this one does exactly that.
