1998 Tennessee Hillbilly House Trailer Magnate Turned Banker, Popcorn Vendor, Autobiographer, and Elvis Impersonator Memorial Key Fob
OUR #PK532

Item Description

This listing is for the exact key fob in the photos. From our personal collection comes this distrinctive key fob distributed in limited quantites locally just prior to the turn of the Millennial Year. Manufacturer was simply marked China on the key fob body. Advertiser is for First State Bank of Henderson, Tennessee, an institution with continuity from the late 19th Century. It is one of several advertising trinkets distributed just after the iconic local bank’s takeover by a House Trailer Magnate turned banker. It embodies self adulation where a poor farm boy took over the main pillar of the community once he hit it rich, and had his turn at imposing hillbilly glitz onto a traditional small town institution. This Chinese trinket accompanited installation of popcorn machines in the bank lobby, of dressing bank employees in blue collar shirts, of hawking the CEO’s autobiography, and subjecting the community at large to the CEO’s Elvis impersonations. In a decisive move, the name on the fob, First State Bank, has long been replaced with Mr. Clayton’s own surname.
