Armscor of the Philippines launched its business in 1952, and we’ve sold Armcor firearms since the 1960s. Here is Armscor's offering in .38 Special snub. The Armscor 206 design closely follows the classic Colt D Frame Detective Special Revolvers. This is no Colt, of course; it is a much less expensive revolver, but a well made one. Manufacturer is Arms Corporation of the Philippines in Manila, in business since 1905. Importer and warrantor is Armscor Precision Inc. of Pahrump, NV. Construction is all steel with no pot metal whatsoever. Surfaces are roughly finished but durable matte blue military style finish, much like the Colt Commandos of World War II. This revolver, like its progenitor, is double and single action with a Ruger-type flat transfer bar internal safety mechanism that enables engagement of the firing pin only when the trigger is pulled all the way. Lateral play to the cylinder is no more than 2mm total movement, but these revolvers time much better than Colts; the cylinder locks into place well before the hammer falls. Barrel is 2 1/8 inch one piece steel, nominally 2 inches, with rod shroud. Bore is six groove right hand 1:16. Sights are barrel integral ramp front sight with fixed notch rear sight. Its wood grips are cut checkered, round butt magna type Filipino Hardwood. For Rubber Grips, this revolver will readily accept CDC Pachmayr Compacs for the Detective Special. Armscor has offered misfitted rubber grips recently, and they’re licking that calf over as we write. The 206 will accept a J Frame T Grip adapter with some protrusion near the butt area. Weight empty is 24 ounces. Capacity is not 5, but 6 rounds of .38 Special Ammunition, and Colt D Speedloaders work with this revolver, HKS number DSA. Factory recommends only occasional use of +P ammunition: practice with standard loads, and perhaps load for defense with +P. These revolvers come well greased in their new style carrying cases, a bit larger than the ones showing, with factory papers and fired brass envelope.
