Formatting on this page has what $5 Libertys we have divided into 3 groups, 1900-1907, 1880 – 1899, and pre-1880. Pricing is according to Gold Spot price. The market fluctuates every hour, as we all know. Our pricing on these is a factor of the 1oz Gold Spot price at the time of purchase. We will use a minimum gold basis of $900.00. Even if gold falls below $900, the gold basis for each coin will figurea at least $225.00, more if gold is higher than $900.  Even though $5.00 Gold Pieces, the old ones like these, are not quite ¼ oz of gold, we figure them at ¼ oz rates, and that is customary among coin dealers. In no event will we sell for less than current Gray Sheet Sell, the pricing in the weekly Coin Dealer Newsletter, published by CDN Publications in Torrance, CA.

Please find shipping rates at the bottom of the page. We will accept Credit Cards – Mastercard or Visa only – at listed prices; we will discount 2%, however, for payment with USPS Money Orders.

$5 Liberty Gold Piece 1881 AU

image052image054

This 1881 $5 Gold Piece actually has some hints of lustre. The hairline details are excellent on the obverse, just a slight amount of flattening above the headband and on the buns. Liberty's ear is very delicate and fine. There's a few slight bag marks on obverse, but not many. Reverse's horizontal shield lines are about 80% visible. An excellent coin, we consider this one to be Almost Uncirculated; the photos, however, should suffice for interested parties to judge grade for themselves.   ¼ x  Gold Spot  Plus $100.00

$5 Liberty Gold Piece 1845 AU50 / Cleaned ANACS Cert

image084image086

This is one of the oldest pieces we've had in quite some time, a $5 Gold Piece from Philadelphia struck in 1845. It has excellent detail. There's ever-so-slight wear to the very top of Liberty's hair and on the center bun. Neckline, neckline hair, and left ear are all exquisite. Reverse's horizontal shield lines are strong, with only about 20-25% flattening on their high points by our estimate. Eagle's neck feathers are strong, with slight flattening. There's a small scrape on the reverse at 1 o'clock directly beneath the O. We consider this coin to be an AU, but photos ought to allow prospective buyers to judge for themselves as to grade. ANACS concurred, but the coin has been cleaned, as the obverse photo suggests. They graded it AU 50 Cleaned, and the certification number is 4116308. Own it   for only           ¼ times Spot plus $125.00.

$5 Liberty Gold Piece 1857-S AU 58 Cleaned

image088image090

This pre-Civil War S-Mint $5.00 gold piece is in near-mint if not actual Mint State Condition. The surfaces have plenty of lustre and plenty of detail. Liberty's ear, eyebrow, and hair buns are very sharp on the obverse. On the reverse, as seems to be typical with San Francisco strikes, the weak horizontal shield lines conflict with extremely sharp Eagle's neck feathers. We strongly believe that this coin is, if not MS-61 or 62, at least an AU-58. Photographs should suffice for interested parties to judge for themselves. ANACS graded  it AU 58 Cleaned. Own this rare date $5 liberty        for only           $ 1,000.00
